the importance of scars

Scars mark time and create histories. They may be the consequence of age and wear, or the product of neglect, accident or sacrifice. While the context of marks on an old, torn contractor’s tarp with an unknown past is accessible only by speculation, new stories may be told, built on the ghosts of the original. This work is a hybrid of documentary and fabrication. Through printing, painting, mending and marking, I build on uncertain narratives to create new ones.
